Liposuction

Important information about CoolSculpting Surgery

Liposuction is the surgical extraction of unwanted body fat by vacuum technique using specialized surgical instruments. Liposuction is a form of cosmetic plastic surgery. It eliminates unwanted fat from the body to enhance body shape and smooth uneven body shapes.

The excess fat deposits are removed in a safe and non-invasive way which is similar to liposuction operation performed in the body. Liposuction has helped many individuals to reshape their bodies more easily and also reduces health risks.

Liposuction (ดูดไขมัน) can be divided into two types, namely tumescent liposuction surgery and total liposuction. Tumescent liposuction utilizes a specialized cannula that is inserted under local anesthesia to treat the affected area and flush out the fluid from the treated area.

The fluid flushed from the treated area during the liposuction procedure is regarded as postoperative fluid. During total liposuction, a larger cannula is used to suction the fat deposits from the body. The postoperative fluid produced during surgery is treated as an anesthetic and removed later in the surgery.

Liposuction can be performed as a single procedure or in various steps. Liposuction can be done as a single procedure by using general anesthesia or local anesthesia and endoscopic techniques for performing more difficult liposuction.

Generally, the first step of any liposuction procedure is the surgical site preparation followed by general anesthesia for local anesthesia. One of the most common postoperative symptoms is pain and soreness. Liposuction surgery is considered to be safe when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon under the proper supervision of the surgeon.

After the surgery, the patient may experience some complications like infection, numbness, abnormal bruising, and inflammation. However, these complications are rare, and most patients recover fully in no time at all.

The major complication after the liposuction procedure is fluid retention due to swelling in the treated area. General anesthesia causes fluid retention in most patients, but if you have opted for local anesthesia and the procedure was done with minimal anesthesia, you may suffer some mild and moderate swelling.

Many people opt for liposuction to reduce their abdominal fats because it is considered to be relatively safe and less harmful compared to other similar procedures like liposuction for the arms or thighs. However, liposuction does not work for certain patients, like heart problems, diabetes, and blood pressure.

Even if there are no heart problems and the blood pressure is fine, liposuction might not be advisable because it usually involves using a needle that carries bacteria. Therefore, the chances of getting infections are quite high during and after the treatment.

Another common problem following liposuction surgery is bruising. Liposuction tends to leave red or purple skin for several weeks after the treatment, and this is especially so for patients who had the cool sculpting procedure.

However, because the skin is now tighter, the amount of bruising caused by the surgery is much reduced and bruising can be easily prevented with the help of medications. Other minor side effects associated with the cool sculpting procedure are swelling and some bruising, but these are usually temporary and take place for a short duration.
